About True North Achievement
After writing two seminal books on educational processes: "Setting the Stage: Teaching to the Learner's Brain" and "Activating the Learner's Brain," CEO Dr. Barbiere has led numerous workshops on the subjects of brain-research and lesson-design.
Teaching educators how to implement data-based brain research and instruction to foster student self-regulation has become the mission of TNAP.
Included in both the books, and workshops, are original rubrics designed specifically for administrators to assess instruction effectiveness. TNAP's expertise also encompasses teacher-student coaching, checklists for teachers, and lesson-planning strategies; all of which drive the TNAP's mission of cultivating students' self-regulation in education.
Founder, CEO
Dr. Barbiere's experience includes administration at school and district levels, Associate Professor, Network Turnaround Officer, Regional Director for Regional Achievement Center 5 (RAC) and Executive Regional Director for Comprehensive School Improvement Team 3 (CSI 3); covering Middlesex, Ocean, Monmouth, Atlantic, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties in New Jersey.
Prior to being Regional Executive Director for CSI 3, he served as a Turnaround Officer for two inner city schools which had been low performing. Working with the principal and teachers, both schools doubled their test scores in one year and became higher achieving schools in nearly all performance metrics.
